The Corps Network Welcomes New Board and Corps Council Members
WASHINGTON, D.C. – During a set of February meetings of The Corps Network’s leadership, new members were welcomed to the organization’s Board of Directors and Corps Council. Outgoing members were also formally recognized for their contributions.
The Corps Network’s Board of Directors helps determine the mission and vision for the organization and also fundraises, provides fiduciary and organizational oversight, and offers strategic guidance. Outgoing members of the Board include Kim Perry, Executive Director of D.C. Vote, David Smith, Managing Director of the Presidio Institute, and Ann Cochrane, Executive Director of San Francisco Conservation Corps.
New members of the Board of Directors include:
Kelly Causey, CEO of Mile High Youth Corps
Kelly is currently serving her 16th year as CEO of Mile High Youth Corps. She has worked with youth development agencies for 22 years, mostly in youth Corps. She got her start at MHYC as one of its first crew leaders when the Corps was launched in 1992. Kelly earned a Master’s degree in Sociology and her Ph.D. in Health & Behavioral Sciences from the University of Colorado at Denver. The focus of her dissertation was employability barriers faced by high-risk youth.
Jim Houser, COO, Delaware North
Jim Houser is Chief Operating Officer for Delaware North parks & resorts, and Delaware North Australia and Asia. As COO, Jim is responsible for the day-to-day operations of more than 40 Delaware North parks & resorts locations in the United States and abroad. Having served more than 35 years with the company, Jim has gained a diverse management and leadership background.
Lori Johnston, Financial Advisor, Mayflower Advisors, LLC
Lori Johnston is a financial advisor with a background in small business ownership. Prior to joining AG Edwards & Sons (a predecessor firm of Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC) in 2001, Lori owned and operated two franchised Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream shops and an independent coffee house in Washington, DC. She provides comprehensive investment planning services with an emphasis on Socially Responsible Investing.
Paul Schmitz, CEO, Leading Inside Out
Paul Schmitz is CEO of Leading Inside Out, a nonprofit and philanthropic advisory group. He also serves as Senior Advisor to The Collective Impact Forum, an initiative of FSG and The Aspen Institute Forum for Community Solutions; and is the first Innovator in Residence at Georgetown University’s Beeck Center for Social Innovation and Impact. Paul is the author of Everyone Leads: Building Leadership from the Community Up (Jossey Bass, 2011), and the former CEO of Public Allies where he spent 21 years helping more than 5,600 diverse young leaders turn their passions to make a difference into careers working for community and social change.
The Corps Network’s Corps Council serves as the voice of the member Corps of The Corps Network. The Council advises the Board of Directors and is a voice of The Corps Network back to the Corps community.
