WASHINGTON, DC – On Wednesday, August 14, Mary Ellen Sprenkel, President and CEO of The Corps Network, was officially named to the Executive Committee of the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR). ORR is America’s leading coalition of outdoor recreation trade associations and organizations working to promote the growth of the outdoor recreation economy and outdoor recreation activities.
The Corps Network is one of more than two dozen ORR member organizations. Among other priorities, key issue areas for ORR include access to the outdoors and the development of career pathways in the outdoor recreation industry. ORR recognizes Service and Conservation Corps as a resource in training a new generation of outdoor recreation professionals, as well as a valuable partner in addressing backlogged maintenance on America’s public lands and waters.
“I am honored to have this opportunity to represent the interests of the Corps community in decisions and discussions about America’s outdoor recreation industry,” said Ms. Sprenkel. “Outdoor recreation is a growing part of our economy. As the popularity of outdoor recreation increases, so does the importance of Corps. Service and Conservation Corps have a role to play both in training a new generation of diverse outdoor professionals, and in completing projects to enhance access to trails, campgrounds, boat launches, and other outdoor recreation assets. I look forward to working with fellow members of the ORR Executive Committee to advance America’s outdoor recreation industry.”
Ms. Sprenkel’s two-year term on the Executive Committee begins October 1, 2019.
