MISSION
The CivicSpark fellowship’s mission is to:
Build local workforce capacity;
Serve as a career accelerator for future civic leaders; and
Foster lasting, authentic community engagement.
DESCRIPTION
CivicSpark is a national AmeriCorps program focused on building local workforfce capacity to address community planning challenges. Each year we recruit more than 100+ fellows to work with local and state governments, community-based nonprofits, educational institutions and tribal governments to work on issues ranging from natural disaster preparedness, housing affordability, energy and electricity, transportation and infrastructure, economic development, water management, and public health. The fellowship program provides a launchpad for more than 100 young professionals per year who are seeking careers in community planning sectors. Since 2014, nearly 1,000 Fellows have provided over one million hours of service to more than 300 local public agencies through over 1,000 projects. CivicSpark currently operates in three states: California, Colorado, and Washington, with expansion to additional states planned for fall 2025.
