CAC AmeriCorps is a local AmeriCorps program, operated by the Knoxville – Knox County Community Action Committee (CAC), that places as many as 100+ full and part-time members in service opportunities with over 40 partner non-profit, government, academic, and faith-based organizations in Knox and surrounding East Tennessee counties. Our members are focused on addressing a variety of environmental and social needs through activities that include environmental education, the improvement of public lands, and a broad range of capacity building activities ranging grant writing and volunteer management to conducting community needs assessments.
All of our members receive a living stipend during their service to help meet their basic needs and then, upon completing their term, members receive an education award that can be applied to qualified student loans or future educational pursuits. Besides these core benefits of service, members also receive a variety of additional benefits during their service ranging from peer-mentorship and connectivity to a large service community to access to an assortment of training, professional development, and certificate program opportunities.
