MISSION
American YouthWorks provides young people with opportunities to build careers, strengthen communities, and improve the environment through education, on-the-job training, and service to others.
DESCRIPTION
Founded in 1975, American YouthWorks connects young people with equitable access to educational and career opportunities, and support services through the Texas Conservation Corps, Louisiana Conservation Corps and YouthBuild Austin programs. In a supportive learning environment, participants learn new job skills by addressing urgent community issues such as building micro homes for shelterless individuals, disaster response through FEMA deployments, environmental resilience, and access to affordable housing and healthcare. AYW programs are award-winning models that welcome youth and young adults from diverse backgrounds, offering connection to innovative education and career training that can lead to meaningful employment and career opportunities.
