POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Corpsmember Training and Education (CTE) Coordinator is an exciting opportunity to develop and implement educational pathways for Corpsmembers related to SJCC+CS’ respective workforce development programs. Primary responsibilities include curriculum development, coordinating training and job-training educational opportunities, instructing and leading programs, and supervising Corpsmembers in implementation of training programs.
In addition to strong communication and organizational skills, the CTE Coordinator should also be able to maintain professionalism at all times while working with various department staff and external partners. Applicants should also be comfortable in taking a leadership role and have prior experience in training instruction, education, or public speaking.
JOB DUTIES
Curriculum Development
- Develop new job training and educational curriculum as needed for orientation, new initiatives, contracts, and grants, especially as they relate to the assigned department’s needs and corpsmember progression.
- Proofread and edit training curriculum documents for consistency and clarity.
- Work collaboratively with various department staff on the development of program materials.
- Attend a variety of training and webinars to research best practices, and share the outcomes of those forums with staff and corpsmembers in relevant departments.
- Advise the Department and SJCC+CS leadership on new training needs as they arise.
Training Data Collection & Analysis
- Prepare and distribute periodic training and safety compliance reports to department supervisors, managers, and directors.
- Maintain records of training certificates and rosters, and distribute to participants as needed.
- Utilize a variety of training platforms to generate consistent reports and assign training to corpsmembers as needed.
- Assist in data analysis for department training compliance, completion, and projection rates.
Instruction & Leadership
- Act as the lead instructor and regularly lead training for corpsmembers, including: orientation, safety training, foundational training and vocational workshops.
- Communicate and collaborate with department staff in implementation of training programs and events.
- Lead introductory training for new corpsmembers entering the department.
- Demonstrate leadership, mentorship, and a positive attitude.
- Strive to learn continuously and implement new and best practices in training instruction and education.
Administration
- Lead administrative point of contact for emails in regards to training.
- Maintain a master training calendar of events.
- Communicate via email, phone, and Slack about training opportunities.
- Work with staff in scheduling training programs from external partners.
- Order program supplies and track receipts.
- Report any needs to department managers and directors.
- Present training updates and accomplishments to managers and directors in monthly meetings.
- Collaborate with the AmeriCorps program to disseminate available training and volunteer opportunities to Corpsmembers enrolled in the AmeriCorps program.
- Connect Corpsmembers to the Support Services Department as needed to remove barriers for successful work and career transition.
- Other administrative tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- One of the following must apply:
- High School Diploma or GED + 6 years of relevant work experience in program and training facilitation, leading workshops, and/or engaging youth
- Associate’s degree in related field + 4 years of relevant work experience in program and training facilitation, leading workshops, and/or engaging youth
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, environmental studies, natural resources, or a related field + 2 years of relevant work experience in program and training facilitation, leading workshops, and/or engaging youth
- 2 years of practical experience in program/project management or career pathway development.
- 4 years of experience with and ability to engage with, motivate, encourage and support young adults from a wide variety of social, educational and economic backgrounds.
Driving Record and Requirements: If the position is offered and accepted, candidates must submit a copy of their DMV driver’s record. The candidate also must possess and continue to maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Employment Eligibility: Federal law requires all employees to provide verification of their eligibility to work in the United States. Please be informed that San Jose Conservation Corps + Charter School will NOT sponsor, represent, or sign any documents related to visa applications/transfers for H1-B or any other type of visa which requires an employer application.
Medical Verification: State law requires all employees working with youth to provide medical verification of negative tuberculosis test results within the last year. Employees will also be required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
Background Check and Fingerprinting: If the position is offered and accepted, candidates will be required to undergo Live Scan Fingerprinting as well as a background check, which includes a criminal history records check.
Drug Screen: If the position is offered and accepted, candidates will be required to undergo and pass a 5-panel drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual English and Spanish
- Prior work experience in the nonprofit sector
- Prior supervisory or teaching experience
