Groundwork is where Justice and the Environment meet. We link the environment to quality-of-life initiatives through engagement, education, and employment. As part of the Groundwork USA network and the National Park Service, we create programs and projects that address community needs.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Groundwork is seeking highly motivated candidates for the Youth Climate Corps Director position. The Youth Climate Corps program employs youth 14-18 years old to complete community-based environmental initiatives while training them in soft skills, environmental science, outdoor recreation, and environmental careers. The Youth Climate Corps Director oversees the program’s planning and implementation and ensures the safety, development, and education of youth participants and the successful completion of projects.
JOB DUTIES
● Manage and oversee all day-to-day Youth Climate Corps functions and responsibilities, including administrative support and facilitation of activities
● Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and manage daily communication with Youth Leaders to ensure proper staffing of program locations
● Implement program policies, such as outlined in the Youth Leader Handbook
● Manage the program calendar and training schedule
● Coordinate weekly meetings with Youth Leaders to establish priorities and address needs
● Create and nurture effective communication across the organization to support collaboration with all program areas and functional teams at GWORV
● Plan program deliverables from start to finish, including processes, deadlines, and milestones
● Propose and monitor the GT annual program budget, including collaborating with other senior-level staff on grant reporting for Green Team deliverables
● Serve as the relationship manager for all Youth Climate Corps partnerships, including building relationships with local schools for recruitment
● Maintain the relationship with Groundwork USA for Youth Climate Corps programs
● Track Youth Climate Corps alumni participants and partners
● Support the grant reporting process by maintaining appropriate records, receipts, and other relevant documents (i.e., surveys and data collection)
● Collaborate with key GWORV staff to design, develop, and deliver promotional materials for GT
● Collaborate with the GIS Analyst to ensure the GT dashboard is maintained
REQUIREMENTS
● Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience
● At least two years of related experience
● Strong project management skills
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Demonstrated ability to demonstrate and promote leadership characteristics, motivate, inspire youth, and serve as a role model for leadership behaviors
● Ability to make timely decisions and take calculated risks based on available information
● Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
● Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive or controversial subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism
● Ability to work remotely and on-site
● Flexible and positive attitude with the ability to work in a variety of settings
● Experience in community engagement and advocacy
● A passion for racial and social justice.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
● Proficiency with work productivity software, writing, and presentation software.
● Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive partnerships.
● Experience with grants, budgeting, and fundraising.
● Understanding of climate change, climate impacts, and mitigation strategies.
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
● Full-time exempt
● Pay Scale 3: $55,000 – 70,000 per year, based on experience
● Hybrid work model
