POSITION DESCRIPTION
The 2025 SCA Roving Seattle Summer Urban Green Crew will work with local partners to do invasive species maintenance, erosion control, trail maintenance, and mulching. The majority of the crew's work will be in parks and green spaces in the Seattle area, except for a 2-week camping and working hitch to the North Cascades area (July 14-25), and a tentative three-day, two-night hitch (August 4-6) working with the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, camping at Denny Creek Campground. SCA will provide all food, transportation, and gear for these trips. The crew will take part in environmental education and green job readiness activities throughout the week. This includes field trips to a number of sites in the region every Friday. The crew will be composed of 5 students, ages 14-18 (19 ok if just graduated), and 2 adult crew leaders. Housing is not provided, except during the camping trips. At the end of the crew on August 22nd, all Urban Green program members will be invited to attend an end-of-season celebration/BBQ where everyone is encouraged to invite family and friends to show off their accomplishments from the summer.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Act as a Crew Supervisor, by facilitating teamwork, managing field-based tasks, and guiding crew dynamics. ; Serve as an Advisor, by training members in technical conservation work skills, mentoring personal and professional development, and teaching environmental stewardship. ; Act as a Project Manager, by communicating with agency park partners, ensuring successful and timely completion of work projects, and upholding a positive representation of SCA. ; Perform tasks as a Program Administrator, by organizing logistics, completing documentation, managing a budget, and communicating with SCA staff.
Marginal Duties
Required Qualifications
Experience working with youth or young adults. ; Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day, exposed to the elements, and must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more. ; Must be able to attend Crew Leader training (see above). ; Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR training provided as part of training. ; Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. ; Must have the ability to work legally in the US. ; Must have a valid driver’s license for 3+ years and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets SCA standards. ; Must have personal housing arrangements in the Seattle metro area; preference will be given to candidates already located in and familiar with the area.
Preferred Qualifications
Valid Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification a plus. ; Teaching or environmental education experience a plus. ; Experience with conservation work skills or related skills preferred, i.e. trail maintenance, trail construction, habitat restoration, carpentry, landscaping, gardening, etc. ; Preference will be given to candidates already located in and familiar with the area.

Compensation
$930/week total salary, 12 weeks; Paid SCA Crew Leader training, including conservation work skills (travel, room, and board included); CPR training provided by SCA (~$90 value); Wilderness First Aid (WFA) training provided by SCA (~$300 value); Wilderness First Responder (WFR) provided by SCA to one leader if not already certified (~$800 value); Monthly cell phone service reimbursement ($45/month)
