POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Summary
This project is largely comprised of boardwalk rehabilitation. The crew will address key infrastructure issues that impact access to the Historic Fire Island Lighthouse, Keeper’s Quarters, Fresnel Lens Building and outbuildings. With the detrimental effects of coastal flooding from climate change related storms these boardwalks have degraded significantly. The crew will remove rotting boards, repair the substructure and replace it with sustainable decking materials. With over 150,000 annual visitors this project is a critical priority for Fire Island National Seashore. The goal of this project is aligned with Reducing Climate Change Impact through the reconstruction of up to 800 linear feet of boardwalk.
