ORGANIZATION/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
American Conservation Experience (ACE) recruits, trains and mobilizes over 1,000 young adults annually who complete essential conservation projects in national and state parks, wildlife refuges, local communities and more. Program participants gain practical job skills and professional development while making an impact. ACE has worked in all 50 states and several territories. Through its Crew program, members benefit from shared housing, meals on projects, trainings, a living allowance and other benefits. Crew members work in some of our nation's most iconic locations while building lifelong friendships and enjoying hands-on conservation experiences. ACE's Emerging Professionals in Conservation (EPIC) program enables individuals to apply their resource management knowledge under the guidance of public land agency mentors through a wide range of positions.

American Conservation Experience, a nonprofit Conservation Corps, in partnership with the National Park Service is seeking THREE Members to contribute to interpretation and education projects alongside National Park Service Staff at Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Location: Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the greater San Francisco Bay Area, CA
Golden Gate National Recreation Area encompasses multiple park sites such as Muir Woods National Monument, Alcatraz Island, Marin Headlands, Fort Point National Historic Site, and Crissy Field within the Presidio of San Francisco. This park unit hosts 19 distinct ecosystems, 2000 plant and animal species, and offers a diverse cultural history for visitors to learn about and explore.
JOB DUTIES
You will work side-by-side with National Park Service Rangers to deliver K-12 education programs that involve students in meaningful and engaging learning opportunities in the sciences and social studies at Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). Selected members will be stationed at one of the four GGNRA parks as their primary focus – Muir Woods National Monument, Marin Headlands, Alcatraz Island, or Presidio of San Francisco’s Crissy Field/Fort Point National Historic Site.
As an Education Intern with the National Park Service, you will:
- Co-deliver classroom lessons that prepare students for field sessions
- Facilitate field programs with other park staff and volunteers
- Help create lessons and field activities for outdoor programs
- Guide general park visitors with orientation and information
Example Day-to-Day Schedule:
- Tuesday-Friday: Youth leadership with K-12th grade schools for classroom visits and field-based education programs
- Saturday: General public interpretation with park visitors – leading short talks or staffing orientation and information desks
Scheduling: Full time position – 40 hours week, Tuesday- Saturday; time- off is available during school breaks as arranged by supervisor.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
Housing: ACE members will be accommodated in provided shared housing at no cost for the duration of the term.
AmeriCorps Education Award Program: This position may be eligible for a 675-hour AmeriCorps Education Award while serving under the EAP 2023/24 grant year program valued at $2,472.27 upon successful completion of a complete service term and 675 hours.
Public Land Corps Hiring Authority: Members serving under this agreement may be eligible for a hiring authority upon completion of their term of service. PLC projects also include specific eligibility requirements such as age and citizenship. Provided Training/Orientation: ACE members will receive position specific training and an orientation outlining ACE policies and procedures, clear guidance on prohibited activities, and networks for support.
