ORGANIZATION/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The California Conservation Corps is a department within the California Natural Resources Agency. We are the oldest and largest conservation corps in the nation. Our mission is to protect and enhance California’s natural resources and communities while empowering and developing young adults through hard work and education.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position reports to the CCC Placer Center located at 3710 Christian Valley Rd Auburn, CA 95602.
Working in a commercial/institutional kitchen environment with occasional engagement in multiple environments. Routine work schedule with some flexibility due to the needs of corpsmembers and staff.
JOB DUTIES
Under the direction of the District Director, and with the Administrative Officer as lead, and the guidelines of the CCC Culinary Program, the Cook Specialist will be responsible for the management of the Kitchen Culinary Program under the Supervising Cook of the assigned service district. The general description of the position shall be to supervise Kitchen Corpsmembers during kitchen working hours and to ensure the preparation and service of meals to include cleaning and sanitation in a institutional/commercial kitchen
setting in the assigned service district.
Provides supervision, guidance, and direction to Corpsmembers during Corpsmembers’ working hours in a institutional/commercial kitchen setting in order to maintain general order and discipline, while promoting Corpsmember self-discipline and an awareness of others. Trains Corpsmembers in the basics of meal preparation and service as well as cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen and dining hall. Ensures proper management and control of the kitchen and dining hall area to encourage and maintain clean living conditions including monitoring the facilities food service and cleanup schedule. May be responsible for CCC facilities on the weekend.
