POSITION DESCRIPTION
About Us
The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults, working across national parks, forests, wildlife refuges, and community spaces nationwide.
Program Dates: May 12th, 2025 – October 17th, 2025
Position Overview
Join a team of outdoor enthusiasts in the Adirondack Mountains (2.5 hours from Albany, NY) for a summer of conservation and trail work. Gain valuable skills and experience as you hike, camp, and backpack while contributing to critical conservation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Trail construction and maintenance
- Invasive species management
- Infrastructure and historic preservation (e.g., fire tower restoration, cabin repairs)
Marginal Duties
- Fully engaging in a variety of trainings and certifications in technical trail skills, crew management, and outdoor living skills.
- Being a part of a community and working hard alongside others to protect the land.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 or older by the position start date
- Must have the ability to legally work in the US
- Ability to pass background check and meet physical requirements (manual labor, hiking 5+ miles, lifting 40+ lbs)
- Commitment to teamwork, outdoor work, and safety standards
- Preferred: camping, backpacking, or hand tool experience
