AllTrails Stewards Fund

The AllTrails Stewards Fund is for trail projects that expand outdoor access and preserve outdoor spaces. Deadline to apply is July 17. Projects should focus on:

  • Trail resiliency & essential maintenance: Addressing erosion, restoring washed-out bridges, improving drainage, deferred maintenance, removal of invasive species, and other work that ensures long-term trail health
  • Trail experience: Improving the on-trail experience, including native plant restoration, improved interpretation or trail head signage, visitor amenities and more
  • Trail restoration & new trail builds: Restoring previously closed trails to public use or creation of new publicly accessible trails

FY2025 & FY2026 Historic Preservation Fund – History of Equal Rights Preservation Grants

The FY2025 & FY2026 Historic Preservation Fund – History of Equal Rights Preservation Grants funding opportunity is now available. The National Park Service’s History of Equal Rights Grant Program (HER) will preserve sites related to the struggle of all Americans to achieve equal rights. HER grants are funded by the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF), administered by the NPS, and will fund a broad range of preservation projects for historic sites including: architectural services, historic structure reports, preservation plans, and physical preservation to structures. Walmart Spark Good Local Grants

These grants are designed to support local organizations that meet the unique needs of communities. Grant amounts range from $250 to $5,000 and support charities, government entities, schools, and churches or other faith-based organizations. Applications are accepted and reviewed quarterly. 9/11 Day Nonprofit Service Grants Program

Made possible thanks to funding from AmeriCorps, this new grant opportunity is open to nonprofit, civic, and community-based organizations and government agencies that are planning meaningful volunteer service projects in observance of 9/11 Day, a federally recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance. Projects should address specific community needs through hands-on volunteer service, and creative or uniquely impactful ideas are encouraged. All projects must also incorporate education and awareness around the significance of 9/11 as a National Day of Service. While remembrance components are welcomed and encouraged, volunteer service should remain the central focus of the project. The suggested funding cap for applications is $30,000, though larger requests may be considered on a case-by-case basis, particularly for organizations coordinating service activities across multiple chapters, affiliates, or communities. Proposals should aim to engage a minimum of 200 volunteers for every $10,000 requested. Applications are due by June 15. Click for more information and the application.

National Geographic – Developing Future Ocean Stewards Request for Proposals

The National Geographic Society aims to invest in ocean literacy by funding community-based projects that help people form strong emotional bonds with the ocean and develop or deepen a sense of ocean identity through immersive learning experiences. These highly competitive grants will be awarded at two funding levels: up to $20,000 for early career applicants, and up to $100,000 for individuals who are more established in their field. 2026 Veterans and Nature Grant

Applicants can request up to $10,000 for programs to be completed in 12 months. Eligible applicants must describe how the requested funds will support projects on America’s public lands that connect veterans to nature-based health and wellness experiences, including any of the following:

  • Outdoor recreation programming designed for veteran communities
  • Partnerships with public lands agencies to expand veteran access
  • Nature-based physical and mental wellness initiatives
  • Community-building activities on America’s public lands

Youth4Climate: Call for Solutions

Youth4Climate’s Call for Solutions is a global innovation challenge for Youth and Youth-led organizations working on climate action focused projects. The Call aims to fund new and existing youth-led solutions that are ready to implement or scale, and to support the further development of young people’s ideas and projects by providing relevant learning opportunities with the support of partners. Since 2023, Youth4Climate has allocated $4 million in direct funding to 150 youth-led climate projects across 59 countries. In 2026, the Youth4Climate Call for Solutions launches its fourth round of funding opportunities for young people aged 18 to 29 and youth-led entities. Applicants to the Call for Solutions can request up to $30,000 in seed funding. Deadline is April 30, 2026. Learn more

Funding Opportunity – T-Mobile Hometown Grant

The T-Mobile Hometown Grant offers funding to complete community projects in rural, small towns. Requested funding must be for a physical placemaking project. Grants are intended for shovel-ready projects that would not otherwise be possible to implement through local government/municipal funding.

Gloria Barron Prize

From the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes
The 2026 Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes is open to youth ages 8-18 who are currently working individually on an inspiring service project or have done so within the past 12 months. Winners each receive $10,000 to apply towards their higher education or their service project. Pre-applications are due by 5:00 p.m. MT on March 15, 2026. Learn more

 AARP Community Challenge

From AARP
Since its inception in 2017, the AARP Community Challenge has awarded 2,100 grants totaling $24.3 million to projects that benefit residents — especially those age 50 and older — and accelerate community change. AARP is accepting applications for the 2026 funding cycle that, among other outcomes, deliver tangible improvements to communities, such as new crosswalks, benches, bike lanes, housing designs, and public space enhancements. EPA – Environmental Education Grant Program

The Environmental Education Grant Program supports locally and regionally focused environmental education projects that promote environmental stewardship and help develop knowledgeable and responsible students, teachers, and community members. This grant program provides financial support for projects that design, demonstrate, and/or disseminate environmental education practices, methods, or techniques that increase public awareness and knowledge about local environmental issues and provides participants in its programs the skills necessary to make informed decisions and to take responsible actions toward the environment. Deadline is March 3, 2026. 

T-Mobile Hometown Grants

Main Street America is partnering with T‑Mobile to help build stronger, more prosperous small towns and rural communities. With T‑Mobile’s Hometown Grant program, they’re investing big in small towns by awarding up to 100 towns a year with project funding — up to $50,000 each. Apply for funding to support a community project of your choice, like revitalizing or repurposing a historic structure, creating a downtown asset or destination, or improving a space where friends and neighbors gather. Projects that add to a sense of place or could lead to further investment are of particular interest. Deadline March 31, 2026. Learn more and apply

National Forest Foundation RFP for Matching Awards Program

The National Forest Foundation (NFF) has issued an RFP for its Matching Awards Program (MAP): Connecting People to Forests. Through the program, NFF provides funds for projects that directly benefit America’s National Forests and Grasslands. MAP pairs federal funds provided through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Forest Service with non-federal dollars raised by award recipients, multiplying the resources available to benefit the National Forest System. Funding Opportunity: Trust in Practice Awards

Through the Trust in Practice Awards, the Alliance for Social Trust recognizes and supports collaborations among 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations advancing innovative approaches to building trust within and across communities. Funding Opportunity: Climate Smart Communities Initiative (CSCI)

The Climate Smart Communities Initiative (CSCI) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026 CSCI grants opportunity for US-based climate resilience projects. CSCI awards provide funding and technical assistance to advance community-based climate resilience in US communities or regions that are highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. The total grants budget is $1.5-2 million, and grants typically range from $75,000 to $115,000 based on the scope of work proposed in the application. The CLIF Family Foundation offers grants to support general operating costs or specific projects; applicants must be registered as (or fiscally sponsored by) a 501(c)3 organization. The Foundation reviews applications twice a year; the deadlines are March 1 and August 1. Grant announcements occur approximately four months after the deadline. Typical grants range from $5,000 – $50,000 and last for one year. Priorities include: Regenerative and Organic Farming; Food Production Workers’ Health and Safety; Climate Justice; Healthy Food Access; Inclusive Outdoor Access; Indoors and Outdoors Safe from Pollution. REI Cooperative Action Fund

The REI Cooperative Action Fund supports nonprofits doing the essential work in making the outdoors more accessible and inclusive for everyone. The Corps Network and its member Corps are actively doing work on public lands to preserve ecosystems for the community with the added benefit of enriching the individual Corpsmember’s relationship with nature. REI believes that time outside and our connection to nature is fundamental for the social, economic, and individual health and well-being of all people.

Emergency Fund for Impacted AmeriCorps Members

AmeriCorps members impacted by the recent demobilizations and terminations in April and May are now eligible to apply for $500 in one-time financial assistance from the National AmeriCorps Member Emergency Fund. This fund is organized by ASC (America’s Service Commissions). 

Funding Opportunity: Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Region 9 Grantmaking Program
From EJ TCGM (a collaborative of Liberty Hill Foundation, International Community Foundation, Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, and Resources Legacy Fund)
This grant is available to Corps in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, The Pacific Islands (Guam, American Samoa, and CNMI), and Native American Tribal Nations. The work must be done in rural communities to target climate change, energy, health, housing, transportation, water and wastewater, or workforce development. We recommend a focus on the Corps’ youth workforce development in the environmental justice space. 

Funding Opportunity: Publix Super Market Charities – Request Support

From Publix Super Market Charities

This grant is only available to Corps in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Kentucky. Publix focuses on encouraging youth and improving communities through their charitable giving, which overlaps well with Corps activities. This could be a fit for Corps hosting Day of Service or pursuing other grants.

Funding Opportunities: EPA Announces $117 Million in Recycling and Food Waste Prevention Grants

As part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced $117 million for three separate funding opportunities to advance recycling infrastructure and boost food waste prevention education across the country. Two of the notices are for Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling grants – one funding opportunity for Tribes and intertribal consortia and another for communities (such as cities, counties, and parishes) across the country. The third notice is for EPA’s Recycling Education and Outreach grant program and is focused on food waste prevention and composting.
