American Hiking Society is proud to announce the 2024 National Trails Day® micro-grant program

- American Hiking Society is proud to announce the 2024 National Trails Day® micro-grant program. The grant is designed to reduce barriers for underrepresented communities to participate in meaningful events in celebration of the 32nd annual American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day® on June 1, 2024.
Three communities, affinity groups, or events organized by underrepresented communities in the outdoors will be eligible to receive $1,500 each in funding to support an in-person event for National Trails Day®.
Funding can be used towards transportation costs, hands-on materials, stewardship supplies, gear library products, food (excluding alcohol), event promotion, and any other materials needed for an inclusive trail experience. Events should include outdoor recreation opportunities and/or a trail service project. Grassroots advocacy activations are permitted at these events.

Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program
From U.S. Department of Transportation
- The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) established the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) discretionary program with $5 billion in appropriated funds over 5 years, 2022-2026. The SS4A program funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. Over $3 billion is still available for future funding rounds.
The SS4A program supports the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Roadway Safety Strategy and our goal of zero roadway deaths using a Safe System Approach.
Combining the FY22 and FY23 awards, SS4A has provided $1.7 billion in Federal funding to over 1,000 communities in all 50 States and Puerto Rico. SS4A funding awarded to date will improve roadway safety planning for about 70 percent of the nation’s population.

FY2024 NRCS Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production Program (UAIP), Notice of Funding Opportunity (NFO) is active

- The primary goal of the UAIP projects is to support the development of urban agriculture and innovative production. The UAIP grants being made available for application under this NFO support planning and implementation activities. Planning activities will initiate, develop, or support the efforts of farmers, gardeners, citizens, government officials, schools, members of tribal communities, and other stakeholders in areas where access to fresh foods are limited or unavailable. Implementation activities will accelerate existing and emerging models of urban and/or innovative agricultural practices that serve multiple farmers or gardeners. Grant Applicants Sought for Placing and Training Underrepresented Workers into Water and Energy Workforce Pilot Program in Southern California

- The California Water, Wastewater and Energy Workforce Development Program is now accepting grant proposals from qualified applicants interested in training and placing new workers from underrepresented populations into a pilot program in the Greater Los Angeles County and Orange County region designed to produce skilled water, wastewater and/or energy utility workers.
- Entities that are encouraged to apply include public utilities or consortia, community colleges, workforce development boards, municipalities, workforce development agencies, industry-specific training providers, community-based organizations, and/or labor unions.

National Park Foundation 2024 Service Corps RFP

Veterans and Nature

- NEEF is now accepting applications for the new Veterans and Nature: Enhancing Well-being through Outdoor Experiences grant program, sponsored by the US Forest Service (USFS). The goal of this grant is to increase engagement of veterans’ communities in understanding the physical and mental health benefits of time in nature and provide opportunities for physical and mental health-focused outdoor activities at US Forest Service sites and other public lands (including state and local sites). Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. PST on March 1, 2024.
Environmental Justice Thriving Communities
From EPA’s Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights (OEJECR)
- EPA selected 11 Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmakers (i.e., Grantmakers) that will receive $600 million to serve as pass-through entities nationwide and provide subgrants to community-based nonprofits and other eligible subrecipients for assessment, planning, and project development activities. The Grantmakers are anticipated to make subgrants available to communities beginning in Summer 2024. There could be opportunities for Corps to receive subgranted funds. Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants

Grant Award: $10 million – $20 million
- The Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grant program (Community Change Grants), created by the Inflation Reduction Act, offers an unprecedented $2 billion in grants under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). The Community Change Grants will fund community-driven projects that address climate challenges and reduce pollution while strengthening communities through thoughtful implementation. This historic level of support will enable communities and their partners to overcome longstanding environmental challenges and implement meaningful solutions to meet community needs now and for generations to come. There will be two tracks of funding under this opportunity. Track I will fund approximately 150 large, transformational community-driven investment grants of $10 million – $20 million. Track II will fund approximately 20 meaningful engagement grants of $1 million – $3 million. Grants cannot exceed 3-years in duration. Trails Capacity Grant

- American Trails is pleased to continue the Trails Capacity Grant Program. This program is targeted for projects on all federal public lands, as well as state, local, and private lands accessible to the public. Project applicants may include nonprofit organizations, businesses, or agencies at the state or local level. American Trails is administering this grant program, and is soliciting applications for funding, with awards between $5K and $10K per project. Deadline is January 15, 2024 by 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

EAP Inflation Reduction Act Community Change Grants Program

- EPA’s new Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants program (Community Change Grants) has announced a Notice of Funding Opportunity for approximately $2 billion dollars in Inflation Reduction Act funds in environmental and climate justice activities to benefit disadvantaged communities through projects that reduce pollution, increase community climate resilience, and build community capacity to address environmental and climate justice challenges. These place-based investments will be focused on community-driven initiatives to be responsive to community and stakeholder input.

YouthBuild Grant Opportunity

Grant Award: $700,000 – $1.5 million
- YouthBuild Grants provide funding to organizations offering pre-apprenticeship services that support education, occupational skills training, and employment services for at-risk youth, ages 16 to 24, while performing meaningful work and service to their communities. Training includes affordable housing construction skills and other in-demand industries, such as healthcare, information technology, hospitality, retail services, and logistics.
The YouthBuild program model contains wrap-around services such as mentoring, trauma-informed care, personal counseling, transportation support, and employment.
