Funding Opportunity: FY25 Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) NOFO is Now Live

The Department of Transportation has released the fiscal year (FY) 2025 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. Established by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. The NOFO is posted on Grants.gov. The deadline for applications is June 26, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. (EDT).
2025 Biodiversity Conservation Grant Application Opens February 1

With major support from Toyota Motor North America, the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is excited to announce $200,000 in grant funding to support shovel-ready pollinator habitat enhancement projects on America’s public lands. Funding Opportunity: Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Region 9 Grantmaking Program
From EJ TCGM (a collaborative of Liberty Hill Foundation, International Community Foundation, Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, and Resources Legacy Fund)
This grant is available to Corps in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, The Pacific Islands (Guam, American Samoa, and CNMI), and Native American Tribal Nations. The work must be done in rural communities to target climate change, energy, health, housing, transportation, water and wastewater, or workforce development. We recommend a focus on the Corps’ youth workforce development in the environmental justice space.

This grant is only available to Corps in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Kentucky. Publix focuses on encouraging youth and improving communities through their charitable giving, which overlaps well with Corps activities. This could be a fit for Corps hosting Day of Service or pursuing other grants.

Funding Opportunity: Lowe’s Hometowns to Award $10 Million in Grants
From Lowe’s Hometowns
As part of Lowe’s Hometowns, the company’s five-year, $100 million community revitalization program, Lowe’s will award $10 million in grants to fund 100 renovations and complete an additional 1,700 improvement projects selected by its associates this year. Now through Feb. 18, people across the country are encouraged to nominate a project to benefit their community or a local nonprofit by visiting Lowes.com/Hometowns.

Funding Opportunities: EPA Announces $117 Million in Recycling and Food Waste Prevention Grants

As part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced $117 million for three separate funding opportunities to advance recycling infrastructure and boost food waste prevention education across the country. Two of the notices are for Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling grants – one funding opportunity for Tribes and intertribal consortia and another for communities (such as cities, counties, and parishes) across the country. The third notice is for EPA’s Recycling Education and Outreach grant program and is focused on food waste prevention and composting.
Funding Opportunity: Lead Hazard Control and Health Homes Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program
The Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program will provide funding to make home modifications and limited repairs to meet the needs of low-income older adult homeowners. The overall program goal is enabling older adults to remain in their homes by reducing fall risk, improving general safety, increasing accessibility, and improving functional abilities in the home. Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration Grant Program 2025

The Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration grant program seeks to develop community capacity to sustain local natural resources for future generations by providing modest financial assistance to local partnerships focused on improving water quality, watersheds and the species and habitats they support. Trees in Your Community Grant – Justicia Y Equidad Fund

Funding Opportunity – Possible Support for National Public Lands Day: T-Mobile Hometown Grants

National Public Lands Day, the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands, will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Site Managers looking for funding to support their potential NPLD project may want to consider applying for T-Mobile’s Hometown Grants, which will provide 25 awardees with up to $50,000 for shovel-ready projects that foster local connections through technology upgrades, outdoor spaces, the arts, and community centers. Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program
From U.S. Department of Transportation
- The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) established the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) discretionary program with $5 billion in appropriated funds over 5 years, 2022-2026. The SS4A program funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. Over $3 billion is still available for future funding rounds.
The SS4A program supports the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Roadway Safety Strategy and our goal of zero roadway deaths using a Safe System Approach.
Combining the FY22 and FY23 awards, SS4A has provided $1.7 billion in Federal funding to over 1,000 communities in all 50 States and Puerto Rico. SS4A funding awarded to date will improve roadway safety planning for about 70 percent of the nation’s population.

Grant Applicants Sought for Placing and Training Underrepresented Workers into Water and Energy Workforce Pilot Program in Southern California
From California Water, Wastewater and Energy
- The California Water, Wastewater and Energy Workforce Development Program is now accepting grant proposals from qualified applicants interested in training and placing new workers from underrepresented populations into a pilot program in the Greater Los Angeles County and Orange County region designed to produce skilled water, wastewater and/or energy utility workers.
- Entities that are encouraged to apply include public utilities or consortia, community colleges, workforce development boards, municipalities, workforce development agencies, industry-specific training providers, community-based organizations, and/or labor unions.

Food and Agriculture Service Learning Program
The Food and Agriculture Service Learning Program provides grants to develop and expand existing farm-to-school initiatives and other food and agriculture experiential learning initiatives within a distinct service area with the overall goal of increasing knowledge of agriculture and improving the nutritional health of children.
Award ceiling: $225,000 for the entire project period
Project period: Up to 2 years
Estimated total program funding: $1,920,000
