Save the date for our 2026 Day of Service!

The 2026 Great Outdoors Day of Service will be held Friday, June 12.

Meridian Hill Park
16th St NW &, W St NW, Washington, DC 20009

The Corps Network celebrates Great Outdoors Month – and National Service and Conservation Corps Day – with our Great Outdoors Day of Service. Young adults from Corps across the Eastern U.S., as well as many friends and partners of the Corps movement, come to the Washington, DC region to participate in service projects at iconic parks in and around the Nation’s Capital. The purpose of this event is to:

  1. Inspire people to get outside and contribute to the preservation of America’s natural spaces. Hiking, biking, camping, fishing – so many outdoor activities would not be possible without proper stewardship of our park infrastructure and resources. All of us can pitch in to maintain the places and habitats that support our favorite activities.
  2. Raise awareness about the role of service and stewardship in protecting and improving public lands.
  3. Celebrate the service of the stewards who protect our natural treasures.
  4. Make a Difference. We hope to make a dent in the backlog of maintenance projects at parks in the nation’s capital, helping our resource management partners focus on other priority projects.

Our 2026 Day of Service will take place at Meridian Hill Park (Malcolm X Park) in NW Washington, DC. This iconic site is part of Rock Creek Park and is managed by the National Park Service. Activities will include planting, invasive species removal, litter abatement, painting, and more. Registration will open in April.
