Position Description :

The AmeriCorps Recruitment Program Specialist Contractor will be responsible for developing and implementing a state-wide plan to promote all levels of AmeriCorps national service opportunities in Michigan. This will include assisting with executing a collaborative model to recruit AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors to serve in communities, participating in outreach and recruitment events throughout the state, working to increase the equitable access of AmeriCorps for people of color, reviewing program materials and providing feedback for improvement, and supporting special events held by the Michigan Community Service Commission. This is a remote opportunity but will include attending in-person recruitment events throughout the upcoming year.

Job Duties :

Deliverables

  • Develop and implement a statewide plan to promote all levels of AmeriCorps national service opportunities
  • Create strategies to increase equitable access to AmeriCorps for people of color
  • Work with Michigan’s AmeriCorps programs to identify recruitment needs and implement solutions
  • Develop a coordinated model of recruitment that supports statewide recruitment needs
  • Track recruitment and retention rates of programs and utilize the data to develop systems of support
  • Explore utilizing the Michigan Nonprofit Guide as a tool for AmeriCorps recruitment and tracking
  • Identify outreach and recruitment opportunities to promote national service
  • Work with communications staff to develop inclusive recruitment materials
  • Create informative visualizations for community partners, AmeriCorps Program Officers, and MCSC staff
  • Develop relationships with key organizations, such as high schools, colleges/universities, AARP, ENCORPS, etc.
  • Attend outreach and recruitment events to promote national service
  • Explore avenues to set up an emergency fund and other support services/resources to increase member retention
  • Assist colleges and universities with becoming a School of National Service
  • Help programs improve AmeriCorps position descriptions and other relevant program materials
  • Assist programs with enhancing their onboarding process and developing life after AmeriCorps opportunities
  • Assist with the MCSC AmeriCorps grant application process as needed
  • Support MCSC special events as necessary

  • Associate (Preferred)

Competencies

  • Knowledge of AmeriCorps national service programs
  • Strong project management skills and able to work autonomously
  • Able to meet deadlines according to agreed-upon timelines
  • Willing to take initiative on projects and work creatively
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (comfortable presenting in front of an audience)
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, meeting and communication platforms (i.e., MS Teams, Zoom, Basecamp, etc.), social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.), and creative software (i.e., Adobe, Canva, etc.)
