ORGANIZATION/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
LCCC runs a variety of conservation programs throughout the year. Gain natural resource field experience while contributing to climate action goals of Northern Colorado.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Forestry Crew Member (Camping) (6 positions): Crew will complete projects that can include felling, brushing, and/or limbing (chainsaws) to assist with fire mitigation. Crew will camp at various designated and dispersed campgrounds near the work site.
The Larimer County Conservation Corps is hiring for a variety of positions. Please apply for all LCCC positions for which you would like to be considered.
Schedule:
Crew Members serve 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday. Crew members must camp Monday – Wednesday, returning to Fort Collins after working on Thursday. Meals will be provided while camping.
This schedule may be modified due to holidays, training, weather, logistics, or other unforeseen circumstances. Training dates will be coordinated and communicated prior to employment.
JOB DUTIES
Tasks or duties that are specific to this role:
• Complete fire mitigation, hazardous tree removal, and invasive species management using chainsaws (other projects may include habitat restoration, fence construction, and trail work)
• Report directly to the crew leader, position to be filled, until hired direct questions to lccc@larimer.org
Knowledge, skills and abilities the ideal candidate would have:
• Background working in a team environment
• Proficient troubleshooting and conflict management skills
• Previous conservation work experience
REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications Prior to August 18, 2025
• Must pass National Service Criminal History Checks (NSOPW, State, and FBI)
• U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident status required
• High school diploma or equivalent required in order to use Education Award after term of service
• Between the ages of 18 and 30 on August 18, 2025
• Must complete a dynamic lifting assessment
Physical Requirements:
Must have:
• Acceptable eyesight, including clear near and far vision, good depth perception
• Adequate hearing to perform job function
• Appropriate voice skills to be clearly understood on the telephone and in public contacts
• Fine and gross motor skills and use of arms, hands, and fingers to operate equipment
Must be able to:
• Hike up to eight miles carrying 50 lbs. in a 10-hour day
• Exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
