Valerie Sokolowski

Valerie is the Field Supervisor for the Gulf Coast Conservation Corps. Valerie plans and supervises all on the ground projects of the Corps.

Valerie has extensive experience with Corps, especially leading crew work. Valerie has an undergraduate degree is in Developmental Psychology and a graduate degree in Special Education, both from the University of Pittsburgh.

Prior joining the Gulf Coast Conservation Corps, Valerie was an AmeriCorps member serving as an Environmental Education Coordinator for a local community center in Pittsburgh, PA. Valerie also worked as a Crew Leader for Southwest Conservation Corps in Tucson, AZ which included a tour with the Gulf Coast Recovery Corps—the predecessor to the Gulf Coast Conservation Corps. She has also been a Crew Leader for the Student Conservation Association several times; on an urban Corps in Pittsburgh, on national high school crews in Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Harpers Ferry, and on a pro crew in Guadalupe Mountains National Park.
